Resources

Developing alternative methods of educational delivery are of significance to remote and rural workforces, when mainstream communication routes can be inaccessible or unreliable.
In direct response to demand from front line staff and NHS Boards from remote and rural areas across Scotland, the RRHEAL distributed education platform will commission, co-ordinate, host and deliver high quality education programmes via a blend of low and high technology solutions.
Delivery of education via the platform will make best use of a range of technologies including, though not exclusively, video conferencing, web streamed education podcasts and DVD. Learners will be supported by NES Knowledge Services expertise and the full resources of the Knowledge Network.
RRHEAL is supporting this development with a practical guide to video-conferencing uses in education, also available via the platform and a quality assurance toolkit to assist developers of education which will be delivered at a distance.
Quality Assurance (QA) guide for distributed education
RRHEAL has commissioned a Quality Assurance Toolkit for distributed educational delivery.
Video Conferencing education guide
The RRHEAL video conferencing education guide provides a practical and straight forward guide to using videoconferencing for communication, training, teaching and learning.
safeTALK report
RRHEAL together with education partners and Health Scotland have developed a 'Distance Delivered safeTALK' programme of training that gives access for remote and rural healthcare staff to increased awareness of suicide and basic skills to manage individuals who are having troubling thoughts about suicide. This programme is a guide for trainers who are interested in adapting courses for delivery via video conferencing.
