    Connecting Communities: Sharing the Learning

    Better Health, Safe Care, Lower Costs 

    RRHEAL/NHS Education for Scotland, Quality Improvement Scotland and the Scottish Government Health Department are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a series of events in Scotland this year bringing the opportunity to share and learn from this international Forum much closer to home.  The events will include for the first time the opportunity for healthcare professionals in Scotland to benefit from the 2011 Better Health, Safer Care, Lower Costs Forum event without the need to travel that is, via remote access.  The events will provide those who participate with guidance on how to host further remote participation events within their own locality and access to the forums key sessions online

    Mental Health Pre hospital Crisis Intervention Programme

    Pre Hospital Mental health Crisis Course delivers generic mental health care skills to practitioners who may work single handed and required to respond to patients experiencing mental health crisis.  The course has a blended format.  This course will be offered in future by Health Scotland.

    Landmark DVD ensures all health and social services staff across Scotland are Informed about Dementia.

    In the first joint education initiative of its kind in Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have produced an educational resource for the entire health and social services workforce in Scotland.  Entitle 'Informed about Demential: improving practice', the DVD is an important milestone in achieveing the aims of Scotland's National Dementia Strategy and has been fully endorsed by Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Dementia Working Group (SDWG), the national campaigning group run for and by people with demenia.

        In April, Programme Director Pam Nicholl and Project Lead Fiona Fraser from RRHEAL joined Dr James Antwi, Ministry of Health-Ghana in presenting a wide ranging discussion regarding the challenges faced in delivering healthcare in remote and rural areas. Despite the diversity of the landscapes considered, there were significant similarities in the challenges encountered in both Scotland and Ghana.
